The Empire Gives Back...

"I believe the children are our future, give them bucks and let them lead the way, show them all the beauty they possess inside..."

George Lucas creator of the Star Wars movies and co-collabarator of Cincy's hometown movie man, Steven Spielberg, on the Indiana Jones movies (btw, expect a new Indiana Jones movie next year, perhaps it is a precursor to Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade) announced he is giving back to his alma mater. Lucas (USC, Class of 1966) wrote a check to USC (read University of Southern California for you Gamecocks out there) for $175 million. Lucas not only set the record at tyhe box office, but now he set the record at USC topping Walter (does this guy have a grandaughter who is single?) Annenberg's donation of $120 million.

Don't spend it all in one place
The LucasFilmFoundation (who says Georgie doesn't know a tax-write-off when he sees one?) ear-tagged $75 million for the new cinema school's 137,000 sq.ft. home with the remaining $100 million to be used in endowments. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held October 14th for the new cinema school building, padron me, the USC's Lucas School of Cinema Building.

How can we ever repay you?
USC will repay the Jedi-Master of donations with the bestowement of Marster Grand Marshall for next year's Tournament of Roses and Rose Bowl Parade in Pasedena.
