I am still amazed that the ambiguously gay duo of Tebo & Leak beat the Buckeyes tonight. I thought ebony and ivory only go together in perfect harmony when the Prince and Paul sing about paino keys, but I was wrong. Congratulations to the Florida Gators for winning their second National Title in over 100-years of having a football program.

Charlie Strong is 3-0 against the Buckeyes

Former Defensive-Coordinator for the Gamecocks and current Florida D-Coordinator, Charlie Strong is now 3-0 against the Buckeyes with 2 Outback Bowls and 1 BCS Championship under his belt. Good job Chuck!

Bushido's predictions for tonight's games

The Bushido is picking the Buckeyes to win tonight. I am leaving it to these key points. I look for the Gators to make it a game in the first half, they may score first. They may even have the lead at the half, but Troy Smith and the Buckeyes will finish off the Gators in the 2nd half.





Why the Buckeyes will win tonight!

1) Buckeye Defense: James Laurinaitis will be the difference maker on the Tim Tebow and Percy Harvin and the run game they bring to the Florida offense. Eleven players on the Buckeye defense have at least two-interceptions, this will obviously be a major issue for Florida QB Chris Leak. In 35 trips to the red-zone, the Buckeyes have only allowed 9-TDs-impressive.

2) #10 Troy Smith is the Heisman Trophy Winner for a reason. He has pin-point accuracy as a passer, moves quickly on his feet-Florida plans to flush Smith from the pocket, but that seems to be where he is at his best. Smith is mobile, he can run the ball, and make plays happen. Troy Smith is a true leader on the grid-iron, look for him to have a big game tonight.

3) The SEC is not the same SEC as old: Today's SEC has strong rushers, but only one leading reciever per team. The Florida Gators have not faced the arsenal of weapons the Buckeyes have in their receiver corps-Ted Ginn Jr, Antonio Pittman and Gonzalez. The Gators pride themselves on containing Arkansas RB Darren McFadden to only 73-yards, but it happened to be a Big Ten Team that held him to less.

4) Florida will beat themselves tonight: Mistakes, turn-overs and hubris will be the instruments of defeat for the Gators tonight. The first two reasons are self-explanatory, but the hubris of the Gators and the confidence in their own ability will be their demise tonight. If the Gators stick with their one-on-one coverage and try to push everything to the line, the Buckeyes will manipulate and exploit these match-ups, especially the unstoppable quick-slant passes to Gonzalez.

Final Score: Buckeyes 32, Florida 21

Can Chris Leak beat the Buckeyes?

Despite the mean face here, highly doubtful. Leak has an achilles heel-he always makes at least two bad decisions during a game (think the SEC Championship when he threw 2-Interceptions to let Arkansas back into the game.

I am sure that Coach Meyer will give the Bucks a healthy dose of screen-plays and "trickeration" but sooner or later, Leak will have to throw the ball down field towards the Buckeyes very fast, very capable corners (i.e. Michael Jenkins).

My roommate Craig Blackmon was Leak's QB coach at Independence High in Charlotte, so I can say without a doubt that the kid is well coached. But I-High Patriots and the Florida Gators have never faced the speed and pressure from the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Ohio State Buckeyes face the Florida Gators for the National Championship tonight @ 8 pm

The Ohio State Buckeyes face the Florida Gators in tonight's BCS Championship Game @ 8 pm on FOX. Ohio State is favored by (-8 points) and the over/under is 48.5.

Of course the Bushido is pulling for the Buckeys in tonight's game, but I didn't want to let my emotions cloud my judgment, so I asked Little Isabel what she thought and she said, "Uncle Jet, Tressel loves Arizona there is even a town 45-minutes outside of Phoenix named Buckeye, Arizona. Have no fear Uncle Jet, the Bucks will cover the spread and you should take the over, because even though the Gators have a coach from Ohio, they don't have Coach Jim Tressel. Go Buckeyes!"

LSU romps Notre Dame in the 2007 Sugar Bowl

Final notes of the game: Notre Dame adds another story to their legacy, tonight's loss breaks their 3-way tie with the University of South Carolina and West Virgina of 8-straight bowl losses and gives them the infamous title of the most consecutive bowl losses (9-straight) in NCAA history! Had the over-rated Jeff Smardzija played well and been motivated to try and catch the TD passes that bounced off his helmet, the game could have been a lot closer. Thank Touch Down Jeebus that Jeff plays baseball better than he plays football.

LSU faces Notre Dame in tonight's Sugar Bowl

I know you should never bet against the Irish, but I think LSU will bring home the win tonight covering the spread, but I doubt the two teams will pull the over, so take the under. Granted this all depends on what teams show up, but LSU is not a team to shrink from competition in a big game. This game will probably come down to the performance of LSU's QB and their fast attack defense stopping the fast-paced offense led by Brady Quinn and the Fighting Irish. Geaux Tigers!

Louisville faces Wake Forest in tonight's Orange Bowl

Louisville attempts to put their program in the national spotlight tonight by winning their second top-4 BCS bowl game against Wake Forest. The odds-makers have Louisville as a (-10) favorite, with a 53.5 point over-under, for this year's Orange Bowl. The game starts at 8 pm and will air on FOX.

Bushido's Bet: I am going with the boys out in Vegas on this one, and I think the smart play is on the under. Both teams have very quick defenses and Louisville has been known to struggle on offense when faced with an attack defense. As much as I'd like to see Wake win tonight because they were notched to be the anchor team of the ACC this year, I have to go with my Kentucky loyalities (bestowed upon the Bushido by the Tumey's and Mr. Inman).

West Virginia wins the 2007 Gator Bowl

West Virginia over-came an 18-point deficit to win the 2007 Gator Bowl, 38-35. Yesterday's game set a new points-scored record previously held by Tennessee's victory over Georgia Tech (45-23) in the 1994 Gator Bowl. And this makes the third-straight game Tech has lost by 3-points. (Tech loss to their in-state rivals Georgia and the ACC Championship game by 3-points.)

Tech's cheerleaders had a lot to cheer about in the first half as sophomore QB Taylor Bennett and All-American Calvin Johnson ripped apart the Mountaineer secondary. The 3rd-ranked rusher in the Nation, Steve Slaton had 3carries for a paltry 11-yards. But Mountaineer QB Patrick White came out gunning and running in the 2nd half, going 9 of 15 for 131 yards and 2 TDs, rushing 22-times for 145 yards and 1 TD, bring his team a victory!

Wisconsin wins Capital One Bowl for the 2nd straight year!

The Bushido Bet was correct in calling Wisconsin as the winner, but unfortunately, 31 combined points didn't break the over of 45.5. The Wisconsin Badgers have won their 2nd straight Capital One Bowl and 2nd straight bowl victory over a SEC team (the Badgers beat Auburn last year 24-10) beating Arkansas 17-14.

Wisconsin's coach, Bret Bielema in his first year on the job won his first bowl game. Badger kicker, Taylor Mehlhaff hit a 52 yard career long and Capital One Bowl field goal record to draw first blood in the game. The Badgers did a great job of containing Darren McFadden. McFadden did break away for a 45 yard run with his first touch of the ball but he was "robbed" by Jack Ikegunonu at the 9-yard line. The Badgers held the Razorbacks to a field goal attempt which they missed. Badger QB John Stocco had two first half-TDs giving Wisconsin a17-7 lead at the half.

Wisconsin has their first 12-win season in school history this year. Congrats to Sime and everyone at the Country's #1 Party School (as voted by Hef's magazine.)

Boise State plays Oklahoma in tonight's Tostito's Fiesta Bowl

The Big 12 Champs the Oklahoma Sooners face the Blue Thunder from Boise State in tonight's Fiesta Bowl at 8:30 pm. The game will broadcast on FOX. The Sooners are a (-7) point favorite with a 50 point over and under.

Bushido's Bet: With OK's running back Peterson listed as probable and the quick striking Boise State out with something to prove, I am taking Boise State to win, and I'll take the over as well.

Special Note: George Mason University took out a full-page ad in Boise's local newspaper to congratulation the mid-major school for making it into a major bowl birth.

The Granddaddy of them all is still very important

The Michigan Wolverines face the USC Trojans today in the 93rd Rose Bowl @ 5 pm airing on ABC. I finished Art Spandler's article Rose aura wilts while teams' title hopes push up daisies regarding the paltry importance of today's Tournament of Roses. Spandler contends that this game is just settling, instead of being a motion of importance for each school. I couldn't disagree more. (Photo compliments of Parstimes.com)

The Rose Bowl historically faces the Big Ten Champion against the Champion of the Pac-10. USC has been there thirty times-winning 21-times, Michigan has traveled to Pasadena 19 times-Coach Lloyd Carr won his National Title at the Rose Bowl. Despite neither team having the opportunity to play in the National Title game, this is still a huge game. The padgentry, the national spot-light, and the recognition to football posterity makes the Rose Bowl the most important game next to the National Title Game!

The Bushido is pulling for the USC Trojans in today's Rose Bowl

#3 Michigan faces #8 USC today at 5 pm in the 2006 Rose Bowl. Michigan is favored (-1.5) with a 47.5 over-under. The Bushido is pulling for the Trojans because 1) I can't stand Michigan. 2) USC's Song Girls love dogs. 3) Diddy loves the Pom Squad and the Bushido respects that guy. Michigan put up 39-points against the Buckeyes and USC has so many weapons on offense, so I am taking the over. Wisconsin plays Arkansas in today's Capital One Citrus Bowl

The 6th ranked Wisconsin Badgers (11-1, 7-1) face the 12th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks (10-3, 7-2) in today's Capital One Citrus Bowl. Arkansas is favored in today's game (-1.5), the over-under is 45.5-meaning, even the odds maker in Vegas had trouble thinking this one through. The game will air on ABC at 1:00 pm. The Bushido disagrees with the odds makers: I think Wisconsin will win hands down today. My reasoning, Wisconsin can score and score big. (They scored twice within the final two-minutes this year.) QB JOhn Stocco utilizes his tight-ends Travis Beckham and Andy Crooks. Once you try to put pressure on these two guys, wide-receivers Paul Hubbard and Luke Swan are open to make some huge plays. Obviously, Arkansas dynamic-duo of Felix Jones and Darren McFadden are a force to be reckoned with, but the Razorbacks should ask Auburn about running against Big Ten football, especially Wisconsin. Wisconsin only allows 105 rushing yards a game and they have the #3 scoring defense in the country. Special note: Wisconsin had 5 of 12 games without allowing a touchdown. Also, Jack Ikegunonu returned to the team, pending his legal case.*

Bushido's Bet: To put it bluntly, Wisonsin is pissed they went 11-1, 7-1 BigTen with only one loss to #3 Michigan and didn't get into a BCS Bowl game. I am giving Sime a Happy New Year wish and taking the #1 Party School in America, aka the Wisconsin Badgers to win. Also, I am going out on a limb here but I am taking the Over.

Georgia Tech plays West Virginia in today's Gator Bowl

The (9-4) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets face the 13th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers(10-2) in today's Gator Bowl at 1:00 pm. West Virginia is favored (-9.5) with a 47-point over-under. The odds-makers are giving the Mountaineers a long rope (to hang themselves) because Tech QB Reggie Ball is academically ineligible to start (missing tying the school record of 50-starts) and West Virginia is loaded with speed. Bushido's Bet: I am going against the odds-makers today and choosing Tech to pull out a victory. Despite Tech's sophomore QB Taylor Bennett getting his first start, he has proven himself (16 of 29, 2 TDs, 1 Int) filling in for Ball. Also, Tech has the 6 foot-5, 230 pounds of All-American Calvin Johnson towering over West Virginia's d-backs. With a 40-inch vertical leap, if Johnson isn't taller than he can't at least out jump his opponents. West Virginia's pass-defense ranks 100th in Division 1-A football. I would go ahead and take the over, and I am sure Georgia Tech will, if not win, at least cover the spread.
